Healing, specifically physical healing is one of those topics that is generally not very well understood. To some, it is little more than a nice thought, a fantasy or a dream. To others it is a false doctrine. And still others are unsure about what the truth regarding healing is.

You can imagine how all of this confusion would make it very frustrating for anyone who is sick, to seek any kind of help from God? Where should a person turn? What could a sick person even expect? How can they have any confidence at all? It’s enough to lead a person into a pit of despair.

So today, I want to share with you some information, based on the finished work of Jesus Christ, which will encourage you in the fact that not only is healing made available to you through Jesus, but as the title of the study declares, your healing is actually unstoppable.

As we begin today, it should be noted that my intention with this study is to strengthen your foundation for physical healing by building on the true and solid foundation of Jesus Christ, because that is the only foundation upon which anything can (or should) be built upon, according to 1st Corinthians 3:10-11.

And even if you are not in need of physical healing right now yourself, you may know someone who is, and this information about Christ will serve to encourage and edify that person, because you may be quite surprised to find out how rare this knowledge of the truth of Christ regarding healing is, because as mentioned, there s so much confusion and doubt surrounding it today, that many pastors and leaders are afraid to even mention it, let alone teach on it with any certainty or even clarity.

Yet it is desperately needed by many, and so we are going to examine it today.

Okay, so as I stated, all of this absolutely must be based on the finished work of Christ, His sacrifice on the cross, His resurrection, and the New Covenant which He has brought about as a result; as well as the new creations that we are today in Him.

To examine this from any other perspective would simply be a waste of time.

Without the sacrifice of Christ, healing really has no certainty at all. Since the wages of sin, is no less than death itself, according to Romans 6:23, unless the sin problem is dealt with, we can expect nothing but the end-result of death.

And this brings us to our first question, and the topic of today’s study: has the “sin problem” actually been dealt with? For the answer, let’s look at a few scriptures, starting with Isaiah 53:5:

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was on him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

This is an  amazing truth on display for us here to see, and it’s quite astonishing how many believers have not yet fully grasped the reality of what this scripture is telling us here… he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was on him;

This right here is the payment made by Jesus for your sins and mine. It is one-hundred percent complete, lacking nothing We see that the chastisement of our peace was on him (Jesus). This means that today, we have absolute peace; divine peace with God, because all of the punishment and payment required because of our sin, was actually laid upon Jesus, and so today there is quite literally no punishment left due to anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ. He paid it all, and the only thing left for us is complete peace.

Now take a look at the last part of the verse – because His sacrifice, and the peace which He has bought for us, comes with a magnificent effect: and with his stripes we are healed.

I encourage you right here and now my friend, to receive this truth for all that it is worth. Jesus paid the price, He dealt with the “sin problem” once and for all – and today you stand in Christ; in His righteousness and holiness, as a beloved and blessed new creation in Him.

This is larger than it seems. Meditate on this truth, my friend. There’s so many people who are familiar with this part of scripture in their mind, but don’t truly know it in their spirit. They say that they believe that Jesus took their sins, but they live under a constant cloud of guilt and shame, with sin always on their mind and in their thoughts; that is not the abundant life of a new creation in Christ, and God does not want anyone to live that way.

Isaiah was prophesying about the coming Messiah, and what was going to happen in the future. And there are some people today who still think that it hasn’t happened yet… however we see something very interesting in 1st Peter 2:24:

Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.”

Notice the difference in tense? Isaiah was looking forward to the future coming of Christ and the work that was to be completed.

Peter on the other hand, is looking back at the now completed work of Christ and declaring our present reality.

Jesus Christ bore (past-tense) our sins in His own body on the tree, and now we, being dead to sins (present-tense) should live to righteousness.

So there is a very clear distinction, that what Christ accomplished on the cross was nothing short of absolute redemption. Our spirit, soul and body have all been regenerated and redeemed, and it all happened because of the first half of the verse, stating in absolute terms, that Jesus bore your sins in His own body. The fact that yes indeed, your “sin problem” has been eternally dealt with, is the very reason why your redemption and healing is absolute as well; and indeed it is unstoppable.

Now in regards to physical healing, there are some that try to claim that Jesus’ death on the cross does not actually provide for physical healing, and for that we would need to wait until we go to heaven.

Again however, the scriptures do not support that viewpoint. Consider Matthew 8:16-17:

When the even was come, they brought to him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses.”

What we can see here is that Matthew interprets the words of Isaiah (“griefs” and ‘sorrows” in English translations) as infirmities and sicknesses. Matthew has no hesitation in linking the sacrifice of Jesus with physical healing and physical deliverance; he even goes so far as to count it toward fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy!

We need to understand, and accept the total provision of the sacrifice of Christ, spirit, soul and body.

His sacrifice was total and complete, done once for all and lacking nothing.

In closing today, I want to encourage you with the words of Romans 8:11:

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.”

Take notice my friend, that it is the same Holy Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, who will also “quicken” or revitalize, regenerate and rejuvenate your mortal body. Not your body up in heaven, but your θνητός (thnētos) your body liable to death… in other words, your body right now.

He is doing this all the time, even now, the Spirit of God is filling you with divine life and vitality.

Receive this truth my friend. Receive the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for all that it is worth, and never be afraid or ashamed to claim all of what Jesus paid such a high price to give you.

Join me next week, as we continue seeing how your healing is indeed, unstoppable.

Be blessed.
