When you look into a mirror, you see your reflection. Yet what exactly you see can be colored quite differently depending on your perceptions of yourself. A beautiful woman can look at herself in the mirror and be disgusted by what she perceives as ugly. A perfectly fit young man could look at himself and see himself as wretched. A person advanced in years can also look at themselves and still see a vigorous youth. Much of how we define ourselves has absolutely nothing to do with what we see with our natural senses, but what we see with the eyes of our mind.

Today I want to share with you a truth for the Bible which has both transformed and continuing to transform my life daily as I continue to receive it more, and that is the absolute identification with Christ Jesus. You see many of those who claim the title of Christian Pastors, teach that Jesus died for our sins, and that is true and is a vital first step in coming to know the LORD; but very few of them actually go the next step and teach that Jesus’ death actually frees us from the entirety of every curse of the law. His work is total and complete in every way, and His work allows us to enjoy every covenant blessing of Abraham, as well as the removal of every one of the old covenant curses.

Now those of you who are reading this and got lost in the last paragraph wondering what I am talking about; fear not! What I am referring to can be found in Deuteronomy 28 (due to length it is not practical to copy it all here, but follow the link to read it)

The chapter covers all the curses and blessings of the old covenant law. The good news of the Gospel (which literally translates to mean “Good news”) is that through the sacrifice of Jesus for you and me, all the curses that would be rightfully due us because of our sin, is now paid for by Him, and we are free from the old debt, having now been paid for us. This is what Jesus meant, when He stated in Matthew 5:17:

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”

He fulfilled the law being the ultimate sin sacrifice.

Now as I was saying before, most preachers share a part of this but not all. See after Jesus rose again on the third day, He was in a glorified perfected state, He ascended to Heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, His work having been completed; see now there is a marvelous pearl of a scripture found in 1st John 4:17 which says:

“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.”

As Jesus is, so are we in this world!  How is Jesus right now? Seated in rest at the right hand of the Father, in a perfect body with power and authority. So are we in this world.

Whatever you are struggling with, be it a health issue or a financial issue, or a family issue, whatever it may be… ask yourself if Jesus is struggling with it right now. If He is not, then why are you?

You must look at your mental mirror image of yourself and ask yourself “who are you seeing?” Yourself? Or Jesus?

The more you can see Jesus in His fullness and glory, the more you will be able to connect and receive from Him, and the more you will start living the victorious life that He paid such a heavy price to purchase for us.

So this Christmas, give the gift of your full self to Jesus, and in return receive from Him the full and abundant life that He is so willing to give to you.
