Hello, and Happy Thanksgiving Day to those who are celebrating.
During this time, it’s customary for people to list what they are thankful for. For the Christian, we have reasons both physical and spiritual for our thankfulness…
However, beyond the what of thankfulness, it’s important to understand the why behind it.
Take a look at Romans 5:9-11:
“ 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
What we can see here is that we were reconciled to God by the death of Jesus — notice that God didn’t need to be reconciled to us, but we needed reconciliation to Him — and we have that through Jesus. Furthermore, we are saved by His life, because if even one sin remained… he would’ve never raised.
This is the source of our joy, in God, through Jesus, by whom we have received atonement.
So be thankful — because you have a reason.
Happy Thanksgiving
Be blessed
