The title of this message is a bold statement to make. Some would say that to call Jesus the solution to every problem is being unrealistic, but to those people I would say that they need to have a bigger vision of Jesus.

So today that is exactly what we will be studying. And by the end of this message, your vision of Jesus will be enlarged.

The scripture account we will be looking at today is one which is fairly commonly known, but there is one detail of it that is not often heard or taught about. Let’s first look at the scripture found in John 6:16-21:

And when even was now come, his disciples went down to the sea,
And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh to the ship: and they were afraid.
But he says to them, It is I; be not afraid.
Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land where they went.”

Now there are a couple of things that I want to bring your attention to here… First of all, the words of Jesus. Whenever the Bible records the actual words spoken, or the conversation being had, it’s for a reason. In this case there is so much power in the simple sentence of Jesus. “It is I; be not afraid.”

The first thing that He does when we make contact with Him is to calm our fears. And even that alone can have a great healing effect in us.

Secondly, look at what Jesus did for the sailors and the boat itself in verse 21. As soon as they willingly received Him into the boat, they were suddenly at their destination! This is a marvelous miracle that is often overlooked entirely. Yet this is a perfect example of our LORD Jesus. When we invite Him into our lives or our particular situation, He will immediately bring us to the finish line where we can be at rest.

All it took was for them to willingly receive Him, and to simply let Him be God. Where He is free to work, we are free to rest. When we simply step out of the way and let Him manage everything, then there will be total peace.

It is when we try to work and handle our problems using our own human thinking and efforts that things will fall apart for us. When we refuse to let God be God, or we try to “help Him along”, that’s when we will squeeze-off the flow of blessings in that particular area of our lives.

So as we learned last week, yes God is indeed that good, and He is also that good to us. The most basic first step in receiving His goodness is to actually accept that He loves us enough to be good to us. The last scripture we are going to look at before we close today is Romans 8:32:

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how will he not with him also freely give us all things?”

Yes, my friends, He is that good! As we saw last week, God loved us enough to send His own Son, Jesus to die for us, which He did willingly. And as this verse states, with Him, we also receive all things… and how do all things come to us? With Him.

Give Jesus the praise! He is that good! He is the solution to all of our problems!
