Are you aware that when you accept the salvation of Christ Jesus that you become a new creation? Many believers readily acknowledge this fact without truly understanding the fullness of what it means.

Today we will be examining what being a new creation means, straight out of the Bible, and you may be surprised at some of the things we find…

So let’s not waste any time, let’s go right into the scriptures, starting with 2nd Corinthians 5:17:

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

This is a familiar verse to many of you and it is easy to get into the habit of thinking that we “know” something already and miss the opportunity to receive deeper revelations from the Holy Spirit.

We will start of course at the beginning for the benefit of those who are new, and it will also bless those who have been here for a while as well, because it is always a good thing to keep hearing, keep reading and to keep refreshing ourselves in the Word of the LORD.

The first part of this verse “Therefore if any man be in Christ.” Do you notice that? In Christ and not “of Christ”. This gives us a clue as to the true place where we should always be; and it aligns itself with the words of Jesus when He said that we should abide in Him. To abide, live inside Christ as a house. To immerse ourselves in Him every single hour of every day.

Now some of you are immediately wondering if such a thing is actually possible. The answer of course is yes, and not only is it possible, but for a believer who draws all their strength from Christ it is also completely necessary. This is not just something for pastors and leaders, but something that is for everyone who believes in Christ for salvation. Remember the words of Jesus in the first half of John 15, and the very words that this ministry was founded on “Abide in Me and I in You …. apart from Me you can do nothing”.

So how are we to accomplish this? It all stems from how we actually look at prayer. You see, most people have a skewed perception of prayer, thinking that it requires one to go into seclusion, bow down and cry loudly with great distress. My friends that is not prayer. Prayer is actually communion and communication with God. This means that all throughout the day you can be in communion and communication with Him regardless of whatever else you are doing. For example, you could be working at your computer and be softly singing a praise hymn. You could be cooking dinner and speaking in Tongues, you could be be ding ether of those while on the road instead of turning on the radio… just don’t close your eyes or lift your hands while driving, but be conscious of His protection for you!

In doing this we remain connected to Him all day and He becomes a part of our daily lives, and when that happens, the blessings will truly flow.

Now let’s look at the next part of our scripture verse of 2nd Corinthians 5:17: “… he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

There is so much power in this statement. Think of it. Meditate on it. If today you are in Christ, you are a new creation. All old things have passed away. The old person you used to be… the old person dead in your sins, the old person burdened in their body with physical symptoms. That person is done away with! That person is crucified with Christ. And a New person is alive in Christ!

You are no longer that old person. Don’t even consider that person a part of you. You are as far removed from your old sins and burdens as one person is from another. As far as God is concerned they are two completely different people, and that is how we should see it as well.

Some may think that this is heresy, but no it is Bible! In addition to this scripture we have been looking at thus-far, let us close today by looking at Psalm 103:10-12 which has these glorious words:

He has not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Isn’t this wonderful? This is our God! This is the finished work of Jesus Christ! He has removed your sins! Not merely covered them for a short while, but removed them completely and not charged them to your account.

Today you are a new creation in Christ, in every sense of the word, and in every way. Give God the praise!
