In many places the Bible instructs us to place God first in our lives, but I find myself continually having to learn exactly what that means on a deeper, or should I say more personal level.
I believe everyone who knows the Lord already understands the importance and meaning of placing God first, as God, in so much as not having any idols or other gods before Him… Yet there is a more personal and one-on-one meaning to having the Lord first in our lives that I find myself rediscovering, and that is in the area of daily living.
For example, God cares about us on a personal level as well as a Godly one. Remember that He calls us friends as well as followers.
A few days ago, I lost a key, and was looking everywhere for it, but couldn’t find it. I’m ashamed to admit that God was not first on my list of people to ask, as He of course knew exactly where the key was all along.
When I finally got around to asking Him, I was directed straight to the location of the key, and as the look of relief mixed with embarrassment filled my face I understood the personal meaning of placing God first in our lives in all things… even those things which we may not think are important to an Almighty God; yet we must remember that He is also our personal God as well. He cares about our personal lives as well as our spiritual work, yet more often than not we don’t bother to include Him in our daily lives. I am guilty of this as well, and find myself having to constantly remind myself to include Him in everything I do, and to run to Him first instead of last.
Often we have this false idea of the enemy that the Lord is bothered if we include Him in the events of our daily life, as if the one who created time doesn’t have enough of it for us; when in actuality the exact opposite is true. God wants to have a relationship with us, and that is best accomplished by us including Him in our lives.
So today let us include The Lord our Vine source in every area of our lives, and see the good that results from having Him be an active role in all that we undertake.
1st Peter 5:6-7
“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
May we all stay connected to Him everyday, and not just stay connected but grow a deeper connection that can never be broken.

The Bible says that God must be such a distant number one in our lives, that in comparison we must hate everything and everyone else. Kinda gives you pause to think. Doesn’t it?
