Throughout scripture God is defined as the Alpha and Omega, or the Beginning and the End. Now obviously that title has far reaching implications, yet it also has a much more personal and intimate connotation for our daily lives an staying connected to the Lord throughout our day.
I have found in my own personal life, that the days I try to just jump out of bed and get right to work, everything tends to fall apart, and the reason is I never connected to my source of strength, which is of course Jesus.
On the other hand, the days that take the time to start my day by thanking Him, remembering what He has done for me and is doing, recalling a scripture, praying, or even singing a song or hymn; then I have made that vital connection to the Vine that I need so very much, and the Lord is now walking with me throughout the day, and I with Him.
And the very same thing is true at night, when I have trouble sleeping I find myself meditating on the Lord, praising Him, thanking Him, praying, and even singing, and He does give me rest at night.
This of course is not my own personal wisdom, but comes straight from the Lord and the Bible, found in Psalms 63:1-7
“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.”
So let us stay make daily morning and night connections to our vine, and make the title of God Alpha and Omega, personal in our daily lives. For He is our source of strength!
